This Week's New & Updated COVID-19 Funds

Department for Communities: Sign Language COVID-19 Support Fund (Closing 5pm, 1st December)

£430,000 of funding is available to support the survival, maintenance and sustainability of the sign language sector impacted by COVID-19 through the support of community based activities and the development of new avenues for participation and engagement through the pandemic.

Department for Communities (Via CFNI): COVID-19 Culture, Language, Arts and Heritage Support Programme (Opening 2nd November)

A £2m support fund from The Department for Communities (DfC) to address the ongoing pressures on the Arts, Culture, Heritage and Disability sectors due to COVID-19, as well as provide support renewal and new ways for arts and culture to engage and benefit grassroots communities, and those with disabilities.

ESB: Wind Farm Community Fund

Administered by Groundwork NI, the ESB Wind Farm Community Fund provides grants of £1,000 to £6,000.to support community projects which clearly address current and emerging local issues, needs and opportunities, while also seeking to develop and build upon existing initiatives.

Nesta: Rapid Recovery Challenge (Closing 12 Noon, 26th October)

A £2.8 million, Nesta’s Rapid Recovery Challenge to find and scale tools and services that improve access to jobs and money for people within the UK, focusing on those hardest hit by the economic shock resulting from COVID-19.

This new IFA Inclusive Clubs Programme (Disability New Needs), managed by the Community Foundation for NI, provides grants of up to £500 for football clubs who are developing a disability section, and who wish to encourage participation from everyone in society and to meet new needs arising from

African Health Policy Network: BAME Healthy Communities Surviving COVID-19 Grants (Closing Date (12 Midnight, 30th October)

Funding to help small and medium sized BAME groups and their communities build wellbeing, resilience and capacity following the pandemic. 3 grant sizes, up to £5000, up to £10,000 and micro grants of between £500 to £1000.

COVID Social Enterprise Fund (Opening for Applications 28th September)

As a direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this fund aims to distribute £7m of grant funds over the coming months and is designed to support social enterprises as they seek to stabilise and manage cashflow during this difficult period. The Fund will be managed by Community Finance Ireland (CFI) and provide grants of up to £75,000.

National Lottery Community Fund: Leaders with Lived Experience 2020 (Closing Date, 5pm. 13th October)

Grants of £20,000 to £50,000 to support organisations set up or run by people with first-hand experience of a social issue, who are trying to create positive change for communities and people who share those experiences. UK-wide.

TESCO: Bags of Help COVID-19 Communities Fund (Changes Planned Post September 2020)

During the last 6 months, Tesco put aside £4 Million to support 8000 local good causes through their Bags of Help COVID-19 Communities Fund, which provided single payment weekly awards of £500 to groups across the UK.

True Colours: Small Grants UK COVID 19 support (Deadline 5pm, 21st September)

Through the Small Grants UK Covid-19 Support programme, funding of up to £5,000 will now be available to help smaller charities to adapt their services to enable them to continue or resume supporting disabled children, children with life limiting conditions and their families during the pandemic.

• Consortium: LGBT+ Futures Grants Programme

Thanks to the National Emergencies Trust, a total funding pot of £350,000 is available to LGBT+ non-profit groups, organisations and projects.

Community Foundation for NI: The New Needs Fund (NB Now Closing 1pm on 21st August instead of 28th)

Grants of £1,000 to £15,000 to help organisations and communities to respond better, addressing new needs appearing as a result of the Coronavirus and where restrictions mean finding new ways of meeting existing needs and #build back better, helping to ensure organisations can thrive and continue to provide longer-term support to communities.

Administered by Groundwork NI, open to initiatives and activities addressing the aftermath of coronavirus in communities around their wind farms. Suggested awards of £1,000.

The Childcare Recovery Support Fund (Opening today 27th July)

Aims to provide financial assistance (tiered levels of awards depending on the childcare provision offered and the opening/operational dates following endorsement from the HSC Trust. Administered by Early Years – the organisation for young children on behalf of the Department of Education.

Ecclesiastical Insurance: Movement for Good Awards £50,000 Awards (Closing 24th July)

The Movement for Good awards is an online nomination scheme programme designed to give £1million to charities. The aim is to put their giving directly into the hands of remarkable organisations (like yours perhaps) that are changing people’s lives for the better. 10 charities will be awarded £50,000.

NB Now offering grants of £1,000 (initially minimum grant was £3000) to £15,000 to help organisations and communities to respond better, addressing new needs appearing as a result of the Coronavirus and where restrictions mean finding new ways of meeting existing needs and #build back better, helping to ensure organisations can thrive and continue to provide longer-term support to communities.

Arts Council NI: Organisations Emergency Programme (This fund is now closed to new applications)

Offering grants of up to £25,000 to small and medium sized organisations to help them continue creative work, assist with extra operational costs due to COVID-19, and to help plan for recovery.

The National Lottery Community Fund: The Emerging Futures Fund

The National Lottery Community Fund want to find out how to help communities move towards recovery and renewal after the impact of COVID-19 and draw on all the creativity they’ve seen in communities and across civil society. So they’re funding organisations to look at how things are changing, what is needed in this transition, and what is possible in the future. Funding of between £20,000 - £50,000 is available.

New funding schemes this week:

The National Lottery Fund: COVID-19 Charities Fund

TNL Community Fund are distributing the COVID-19 Charities Fund with a grant from the Northern Ireland Department for Communities. This funding programme will provide financial support of up to £75,000 to charities who have lost income due to the impact of COVID-19 and are not able to cover unavoidable costs until 30 September 2020.
