Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon (ABC) Borough Council: Large Capital Project Fund

Aims to fund high quality capital projects that could bring significant local benefit with only a relatively small percentage of funding required. Project value must be greater than £10,000 and grants awarded are £2,501 - £75,000 at a maximum rate of 25% of eligible costs.

Nippon Foundation

Supports a wide range of activities, both at home in Japan and abroad, in the fields of ships and the oceans, public welfare and volunteerism, support of basic human needs, the arts, sports, education and network building.

Scott Bader: Commonwealth Global Charity Fund

Global Charity Fund for young or disadvantaged people, especially anyone suffering deprivation and discrimination, such as poor, homeless and vulnerable women and children, Minority communities, particularly if affected by: poverty, lack of education, malnutrition and disease. (Note they will only consider applications for funding of projects overseas from UK registered charities or charities already known to them.)

The National Lottery Community Fund (UK Office): Climate Action Fund

Supports communities across the UK to take action on climate change, demonstrating what is possible when people take the lead in tackling climate change. Funding from up to £200,000 over 18 months to £2.5 million over 5 years depending on what partnerships need at the time of application.

NEWS! Halifax Foundation for NI

In 2019 Halifax consulted with the sector and launched its new strategy for 2020 – 2023, ‘A Vision for the Future’. Grant programmes have been streamlined to ensure charities can spend more time delivering their essential work, rather than completing lengthy application forms. In addition, from January 2020 the following grants will be available -

Belfast City Council: Capacity Building Grants

U to £50,000 grants for lead community development organisations that advocate the interests of their local groups, area and residents; and support local community groups to ensure good practice in governance, committee procedures, appropriate policies and financial management.

The Weinstock Fund

An independent grant-making trust which funds a wide range of charitable causes, particularly in the fields of welfare, children, education, medicine, music and the arts. Charities must be registered in the UK. The Fund tends not to support research projects or projects based abroad.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council: Arts and Heritage Grants

Funds individuals and constituted community/voluntary sector organisations living /working within the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council for Arts and Heritage programmes. Grants are available under both rolling and set deadline programmes, ranging from £250 up to £1000.

Makes donations of up to £1,000 to UK registered charities towards practical items that directly support those in need including those with disabilities, affected by homelessness, or with serious health issues.

NEW! Community Foundation NI: IFA Inclusive Clubs Funding Programme – Impairment Specific Disability Clubs

Through the Community Foundation NI, the IFA are offering grants of up to £2500 to support standalone disability clubs catering for any impairment specific disability (i.e. wheelchair, deaf, autism, downs syndrome, visual impairment etc).

ESB: Wind Farm Community Fund

Administered by Groundwork NI, this fund provides grants of around £3000 to £6000 for community projects which clearly address current and emerging local issues, needs and opportunities, while also seeking to develop and build upon existing initiatives.

Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland, offers grants of up to €10,000 to charities and community groups working to respond to various needs within the community. (NB Opens today, 16th Sep 2019)

Public Health Agency: Elevate Mentoring & Grants Programme

Funded through the Public Health Agency, Elevate will provide £5000 grants and mentoring for 5 local groups/organisations in each Health & Social Care Trust area to take part in a five-month programme from October 2019 to February 2020 tackling health inequalities.

OPENING TODAY - Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA): Rural Micro Capital Grant Scheme

Funded under the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affair’s Tackling Rural Poverty and Social Isolation Programme, this programme offers micro Capital grants of between £200 and £1,500 to rural community-led, voluntary organisations for projects tackling issues of local poverty and / or social isolation.
