UCIT: Building Better Futures Loan Fund

The Building Better Futures Loan Fund was established in 2017 as a new loan fund jointly funded by Building Change Trust, Belfast Charitable Society and UCIT. It provides small, unsecured loans ranging from £1,000 to £25,000 for community groups, voluntary organisations, charities and social enterprises.

West Belfast Partnership: Aisling Bursaries

The Aisling Bursaries aim to help students defray their education and training costs. All applications are considered, with special consideration given to candidates who have significant barriers preventing them from realising their full potential through education, for example economic or family circumstances. If you’re over 18, studying, and live in the West Belfast Westminster Parliamentary Electoral Constituency area; you could be eligible for a bursary of up to £1,000.

The Charles Hayward Foundation (registered charities only) provide both Main Grants (up to £25,000 a year for 1-3 years and Small Grants (up to £7000). Comic Relief: HIV in the UK: Think Digital

This initiative funded through a partnership between The M∙A∙C AIDS Fund and Comic Relief, will support organisations who are using technology in innovative and inspiring ways to respond to the ever-changing HIV landscape in the UK. They anticipate making up to 10 grants from a total fund of £450,000.

Newly launched Social Fund with a total budget of £12,000 to support a project/projects which make a positive social impact in the lives of individuals, local neighbourhoods, or communities. Revitalising neighbourhoods, supporting elderly or disabled people or providing advice/education to improve financial capability or inclusion, energy efficiency or biodiversity.

The Global Fund for Women strengthens women's right groups based outside the United States by providing small, flexible, and timely grants ranging from $500 to $20,000 for operating and programme expenses.

Cash 4 Clubs

Cash 4 Clubs is a sports funding scheme which gives clubs a unique chance to apply for grants to improve facilities, purchase new equipment, gain coaching qualifications, and generally invest in the sustainability of their club. Since 2008 over £291,000 has been given out in grants to 373 community sports clubs across the UK. There are four tiers of grants at £250, £500, £750 and £1,000.

Sir Halley Stewart Trust

Sir Halley Stewart Trust is a grant-giving charity that supports innovative and pioneering Social, Medical and Religious projects, to enable human flourishing and to prevent suffering. The Trust funds a wide range of organisations to achieve this goal, with grants ranging from one to three years in duration and up to circa £60,000 per project. The Trust is underpinned by Christian values, but welcomes applications from other faith and non-faith projects.

Comic Relief: Communities and Sport for Change

This scheme aims to fund projects which use sport as a catalyst for change, helping people to take ownership and feel part of increasingly inclusive and cohesive communities and also feel empowered to identify and solve the social issues affecting their communities. Grants of between £40,000 and £75,000 for up to two years of activity are available.

The Honourable The Irish Society: Northern Ireland Small Grants Fund

This fund helps small charitable organisations operating in NI Ireland with grants of up to £2,000 for capital items. Priority is given to projects working with alcohol & substance misuse, older people, disability, homelessness, disadvantaged minority communities, prisoners & ex-offenders, disadvantaged young people, visual impairment and domestic & sexual violence.

Sage Foundation

Sage, the software company has launched a Sage Foundation Enterprise Fund. The new $1 million (around £800k) fund is open to non-profits from around the UK with enterprising ideas to help improve the lives of military veterans, young people or women and girls in the local community. Grants of between $5,000 and $35,000 will be awarded

Causeway Coast and Glens District: Social Inclusion Fund

The ‘Social Inclusion’ grant programme provides small grants of up to £500 for local community and voluntary organisations that are involved in activities that encourage people within their community, particularly those that are socially excluded, to participate in social and recreational activities.

Social Justice Small Grants to Community Development Fund

The Social Justice Small Grants Programme, funded by Atlantic Philanthropies, aims to support local community groups with projects and initiatives that contribute to peacebuilding, tackle the impact of poverty and austerity measures and/or give voice to excluded groups. For the first round of grant-making in 2017 the fund has up to 30K to award.

Executive Office: Minority Ethnic Development Fund (MEDF)

This fund assists minority ethnic and local community organisations to promote good relations between people of different ethnic backgrounds. There are 3 tiers of funding ranging from £100 - £75,000. Funding seminars are also available for potential applicants on 15th, 16th and 17th February.

The Alpha Programme, administered by Groundwork NI, distributes Landfill Tax Credits generated from the Mullaghglass Landfill site just outside Lisburn for projects making a positive impact at ground level, either developing facilities for community use or encouraging bio-diversity and environmental improvements.

The Lush Spring Prize is a £200,000 annual prize fund to support projects around the world that are working towards environmental and social regeneration. The prize will support a range of projects – from the ideas stage, through to young and established organisations, and campaigns.

Trusthouse provides around £2 million a year in grants to projects relating to rural issues and urban deprivation. Trusthouse is managed on a day-to-day basis by the Henry Smith Charity, although the two charities are entirely separate and you can apply to both funders at the same time.

The Henry Smith Charity - Revenue Grants

The Henry Smith Charity makes grants totalling over £25 million per annum for initiatives and projects that address social inequality and economic disadvantage. Applications for Revenue grants of £10,000 or more per year for work taking place in the UK can be made through their Main Grants Programme. The maximum length of funding than can be requested is three years.

Rosa: Woman to Woman Fund

Supported by the “Tampon Tax”, this scheme provides grants of up to £25,000 for no fewer than 100 local grassroots women’s organisations across the UK. It will be supported by the ‘Tampon Tax.’ Grants are available for groups with an income of under £100,000 per year, to support a wide range of charitable work that benefits women.
