Ulster Garden Villages (UGV)

UGV gives grants of £1.5m each year. They fund projects that will have a positive impact in NI and which demonstrate active participation and self-help and are innovative and developmental with an achievable, practical and sustainable objective. (Loans are also available).

Enkalon Community Fund

For its 30th Anniversary, Enkalon has launched a one-off Community Fund to benefit the former Antrim Borough area. The aim of the fund is to enable groups and charities to develop projects which address the areas of need highlighted in the recently published Love Living Here Community Plan There are no minimum or maximum amounts for grants.

Big Lottery Fund: Empowering Young People

Empowering Young People funds projects that give young people in NI aged 8-25 the ability to cope with challenges in their lives. Funding of between £30,000 to £500,000 is available for projects that last between two to five years.

Newby Trust: Grants for Charities

The Newby Trust is a small family trust which makes grants to registered charities in the broad areas of education and social and medical welfare. (They also make grants to charities under an annual "special categories" theme programme and grants to organisations on behalf of individuals in crisis.)

Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland: Community Grant Programme

The Community Grants Programme supports underfunded, grassroots charities that enable people, especially disabled and disadvantaged people, to play a fuller role in society. Open to registered charities (or those on the “deemed list” with an income of less than £1 million. Grants are for one year only and the average grant is currently £3400.

The Community Foundation for Northern Ireland has launched the Acorn Flood Fund to assist with the severe impact of summer flooding on the lives of people living in the North West. They will support eligible groups for this emergency funding with grants of between £1000 up to a maximum of £2500.

The Trustees welcome unsolicited applications for their small grants (up to 10K) programmes, both in the UK and in Africa. Trustees are keen to make these programmes available to as many organisations as possible; it is therefore unlikely that they will fund any organisation in consecutive years.

Set up by US Masters' Winning Golfer Graeme McDowell, the Gmac Foundation's mission is to support children's medical research in NI, ROI and the USA. The cause of Multiple Sclerosis is also a priority area for the Foundation. It also endeavours to take children on a holiday of a lifetime.
