New or Updated Funding Initiatives

ESB: Hunters Hill Wind Farm Community Fund

Managed by Omagh Forum, this fund was established by ESB to help the communities neighbouring the wind farm to become more sustainable through supporting local initiatives and activities. Applicants must be within a 7.5km radius of Hunters Hill Wind Farm, Fintona and the typical award value is between £500 and £5000.

Belfast City Council Small Grants: Good Relations Grant

Small grants of up to £10,000 for good relations projects within Belfast City Council area.  The maximum award is £10,000 and projects must address at least one of the themes of children and young people, shared community, safe community or cultural expression.

Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust

Over the last 15 years, the Trust has distributed more than £30 million to a range of charities working in the UK and overseas, primarily in the fields of education, international friendship and understanding, and the promotion of world peace and development.  All UK applicants must be registered charities.

Souter Charitable Trust

Over the last five years the Trust has awarded over 3,200 grants worth more than £32 million.  They support UK registered charities engaged in the relief of human suffering in the UK and overseas – particularly, but not exclusively, those promoting spiritual welfare.  Small grants may also be awarded for gap year / short term projects which extend to at least one calendar year.

Lidl Community Works

This initiative provides support for community groups across NI with each of LIDL's 38 stores in NI making £6000 available to local community groups. Customers across NI are being invited to nominate groups in their local area that could benefit from Lidl’s support.

Help the Homeless

Help the Homeless provide grants (generally up to £5,000) for capital costs to small and medium-sized registered charities only (those with a turnover of under £1m per annum). All applications must relate to projects that assist individuals in their return to mainstream society, rather than offering shelter, etc.

British Council: Cultural Protection Fund

In partnership with the DCMS, the British Council’s £30 million Cultural Protection Fund aims to create opportunities for economic and social development through building capacity to foster, safeguard and promote cultural heritage in conflict-affected regions overseas.  Small Grants (grants less than 100K) and Large Grants (grants over 100k) are available.
