NEW! Community Foundation for NI: Pears Community Spaces Fund

​Small grants of up to £5,000 where community and voluntary groups are able to demonstrate a partnership approach that evidences need and joint working. The grant could be for using a shared space in their local community or to carry out joint activities or events aimed at bringing different communities together, whether that be communities of faith, ethnicity, neighbourhood or of different backgrounds.

Supports grassroots organisations addressing local housing and homelessness issues by providing organisational development grants to build sustainability, develop ideas and deploy innovative solutions to support people in vulnerable housing situations. Grants between £10,000 and £25,000 for 12 months.

Rosa’s Voices from the Front Line programme supports women’s organisations to shine a light on their fight for gender equality in the UK, by resourcing advocacy and activists with lived experience of disadvantage. The programme offers grants between £500-£2,000. NB this funder is actively seeking more applications from NI.

Lidl Community Works: Sport for Good

Through their new Community Works Sport for Good initiative, LIDL will be investing £160,000 in sports equipment for youth sports clubs across NI. Groups can be nominated online for up to £4000 worth of sports equipment using the 10 digit code at the bottom of a LIDL receipt.

The CAF Tourle Foundation Fund awards grants of up to £5000 grants to local charitable organisations delivering services for local people in all parts of the UK Their target audience are small place based charitable organisations with an income of under £50,000 p/a providing a service to the heart of their community.

Up to £50,000 for not for profit organisations delivering projects of up to 12 months which provide a significant benefit to communities across NI. Community charity Groundwork is working in partnership with Tesco to deliver the Centenary Fund.

Woodward Charitable Trust: Playschemes

One of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts. Each year the Woodward Charitable Trust fund summer playschemes for children between the ages of 5-16 years. Most grants awarded are in the range of £500 to £1,000. Around 35 grants are made each year.

Hedley Foundation

Supports small to medium sized charities which work with young people. Most grants are of a capital or one-off nature, but the Trustees sometimes agree to help fund the introduction of new and innovative projects with a series of up to 3 annual grants. Few grants exceed £5,000 and most go to charities where they can make an impact.

Church of Ireland Priorities Fund

Since 1980, the General Synod Priorities Fund (generally known as the Priorities Fund) has supported projects within the Church of Ireland. Every parish is asked to contribute to the Fund and the amount raised is allocated to the following categories: Training (Lay and Ordained), Christian Education, Outreach Initiatives and Innovative Ministry in a Rural Context.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund (Formerly Heritage Lottery Fund)

The largest dedicated funder of heritage in the UK. They distribute National Lottery grants from £3,000 to £5million, funding projects that sustain and transform the UK's heritage. Changes to their grants as part of their relaunch in January 2019 mean that there are now simply 3 different levels of heritage grants awarded, rather than a much larger number of specific, individually named, grant schemes.

The National Lottery Community Fund: Empowering Young People

Funds projects that give young people in NI aged 8-25 the ability to cope with challenges in their lives. Funding of between £10,000 to £500,000 is available for projects that last between one to five years. ( NB The National Lottery Community Fund is the new name for the Big Lottery Fund)

Supports organisations helping young people (aged 14-25) in the most precarious positions, where making the transition to adult independence is most challenging. Core funding grants usually 2 years and between £30,000 and £60,000.
