Leeds Building Society Charitable Foundation

The Charitable Foundation was established by Leeds Building Society to support the communities around its nationwide network of branches and is funded by an annual donation from the Society.  Since its establishment in 1999 it has made total donations of over £1.3 million.  Donations are normally in the range of £250 to £1000. The application must be for capital expenditure.  Applicants do not need to have an account with Leeds Building Society.

Calor Gas (NI) Charitable Support

Calor Gas provides support through an annual Charity of the Year and employee volunteering. Calor support ad-hoc activities in their communities. They have Start from the Heart one day’s annual paid leave scheme to help their local community and also support a corporate charity – typically for a three year duration for which the majority of corporate fundraising efforts are undertaken.  They choose a national charity by an all-staff voting process. The corporate charity for 2016 is Alzheimer’s Society.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council: Community Development & Festivals Grants

The Community Development and Festivals Grant Aid Programme provides financial support for groups in the Antrim and Newtownabbey District Council area which have Community Development as a primary objective that improve the lives of local people. Projects must also develop a strong, healthy and vibrant community whilst encouraging maximum participation in community life by all residents.

Trusthouse Charitable Foundation

Trusthouse is a medium-sized independent grantmaking foundation which makes grants totalling around £2 million a year to projects relating to rural issues and urban deprivation. Trusthouse is managed on a day-to-day basis by the Henry Smith Charity, although the two charities are entirely separate and you can apply to both organisations at the same time.

Key Dates for your Fundraising Diary

Mars: Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund

Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund are looking to help small, local community groups and charities across the UK and Ireland by donating a total of seventy, £300 cash awards to support warm hearted people and projects wekly from November 7th 2016 until February 26th 2017.  Five donations will be awarded each week, four by their panel of judges and one through the People’s Choice award to the organisation with the most weekly votes.   For every week that the fund runs, an ‘Outstanding Volunteer Award’ winner will also win a ‘GALAXY Hot Chocolate Hamper’

UnLtd Do It Awards

This Scheme provides awards of up to £5,000 to individuals with an idea that will create social impact and would like some help to get started.  UnLtd operates a unique model by investing directly in individuals and offering a complete package of resources; from funding, to on-going advice, networking and practical support.

The Law Society
