New or Updated Funding Initiatives

The Ouseley Trust

The Ouseley Trust is a registered charity set up to promote and maintain to a high standard the choral services of the Church of England, the Church in Wales and the Church of Ireland. It does this by making grants to cathedrals, choral foundations, parish churches, choir schools and other relevant institutions.  The trustees of the Ouseley Trust administer the funds that arose from the closure and sale of St Michael's College, Tenbury Wells - the choir school founded by Sir Frederick Ouseley.

Greenhall Foundation

The Greenhall Foundation's policy is that a specific charitable sector will be nominated for support in each financial year. Preference is given to making grants to assist in funding special projects being undertaken by Charities rather than grants to supplement funds used for general purposes. Grants are awarded for the following areas of work: research projects and projects requesting purchase of specific equipment, projects relating to physically and mentally disabled and disadvantaged people aged 25 and under the Homeless, the Elderly and Church and Community Projects.

Arts Council NI: Local Government Challenge Fund

The Local Government Challenge Fund has been devised to underpin and strengthen arts provision in a community setting and to stimulate long-term change. Historically, local authority funding for the arts has been variable across Northern Ireland. There is an opportunity to change this through the development of Community Plans and their emerging themes, such as economic regeneration, community relations and social cohesion, tourism and health. The Arts Council believes that the Challenge Fund has the greatest chance of success if arts policy and programmes are embedded in Community Plans. The Arts Council is making £1.5m available within this Fund which is open to the 10 council areas outside Belfast. The Arts Council will match each council’s contribution, up to a maximum of £150,000.

Baily Thomas Charitable Fund

Baily Thomas funds projects to aid research into learning disability and to aid the care and relief of those affected by learning disability by making grants to voluntary organisations working in this field. Grants range from £350 to high thousands.  Learning disabilities (intellectual disabilities), and autism are their priorities for funding and they will consider projects for children or adults.  There are 3 distinct funding schemes.  The General (Main) Grants scheme covers both capital and revenue costs and projects or core running costs.  The amount of grant awarded depends on a number of factors including the purpose, the total funding requirement and the potential sources of other funds including, in some cases, matching funding. Two other grant programmes  are currenlty also running: Small Grants and Research Grants.
