Big Lottery Fund: Empowering Young People

Empowering Young People funds projects that give young people in NI aged 8-25 the ability to cope with challenges in their lives. Funding of between £30,000 to £500,000 is available for projects that last between two to five years.

The Magdalen Hospital Trust

The Trust makes grants to promote the welfare of young people under 25, who suffer from social deprivation, abuse, mental and physical handicap, inadequate housing, lack of education or training, and the problems derived from unemployment and broken families.  Grants are normally around £500-£2,000 and are usually one-off and project-based.

Boost Charitable Trust

The Trust aims to champion the disabled and disadvantaged and to inspire them to overcome their challenges through the power of sport. Since inception, Boost has supported a number of organisations, with grants totalling in excess of £1.25 million. The majority have been within the UK.

Maurice and Hilda Laing Charitable Trust

The Trust's objectives are the advancement of the Christian religion and the relief of poverty in the UK and overseas.  Grants typically range between £1,000 and £25,000, although the Trust has the capacity to make a few larger grants each year.

Key Dates for your Fundraising Diary

CRC Community Relations/Cultural Diversity Grant

The CR/CD scheme is aimed at increasing opportunities for people from differing traditions to develop relationships of trust and understanding and the confidence to address issues of difference between them.  Grants of up to £10,000 are available although most awards are between £2- £5k

BBC Children in Need Small Grants

BBC Children in Need Small Grants is open to charities and not-for-profit organisations applying for up to £10,000 per year for up to 3 years.  It funds projects for children and young people of 18 and under experiencing disadvantage through illness, distress, abuse or neglect, any kind of disability, behavioural or psychological difficulties or living in poverty or situations of deprivation.

Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland: Pitching 4 Pounds

Pitching 4 Pounds is a new pilot, grants programme offering 2 organisations a £15,000 grant over 12 months.  It gives charity representatives space to develop their ideas and be creative. Successful charities will be awarded a £15,000 grant over 12 months.
