DRILL (Disability Research on Independent Living and Learning)

‘Disability Research on Independent Living and Learning’ (DRILL) is the world’s first major research programme led by disabled people. Its aim is to fund research and pilot projects which increase disabled people’s participation in society and foster independent living.  It is fully funded by the Big Lottery Fund and will be delivered by Disability Action Northern Ireland, Inclusion Scotland, Disability Rights UK and Disability Wales.  Organisations can apply for up to £150,000 and DRILL expects to fund around 40 projects across the UK over the next 4 years.

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council: Culture and Identity Grants Programme

This scheme provides grants for groups running culture and identity programmes in the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.  The maximum grant is likely to be £1500, with the Council providing up to 75% of the total project costs.   Applicants in 2016 are particularly asked to note the significance of the 100th anniversaries this year of political and military events during World War One.

Community foundation for Northern Ireland (CFNI): Micro Grant Programme

The Micro Grant Programme has been established in recognition and celebration of the contribution of voluntary groups and people to society and the need for a simple application process for small amounts of funding.  Grants of up to £1000 are available for groups with income of less than £30,000 per annum. You do not have to have a constitution to apply to this fund. Funds are available for projects that reduce isolation and vulnerability, focus on the positive contribution of people within the community, enable active participation of a community in decision-making and addressing of local issues and help get people engaged in taking community action where it hasn’t happened before.

Community Foundation for Northern Ireland (CFNI): Older People's Fund (Previously known as the Turkington Fund)

The Older People’s Fund is managed by CFNI and offers funding from between £500 and £3000 for locally based community projects that are planned and run by and for older people.  Larger organisations can apply to this fund if they have identified a particular local need and are planned and run by and for older people from a particular area, but priority is given to smaller groups.  Projects should reduce isolation and vulnerability of older people, focus on the positive contribution of older people within the community, enable active participation of older people in the community in decision-making and addressing of local issues, and help get older people engaged in taking community action where it hasn’t happened before.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council: Policing & Community Safety Grants Programme

Grants of up to £15000 are available to provide opportunities for organisations in the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area to develop and deliver initiatives that address one or more of the above themes - Early Intervention, Fear of Crime, Alcohol & Drugs, Societal Abuse, Anti-Social Behaviour, Reducing opportunities for Crime.
