Mid and East Antrim Borough Council Grants for Groups

Council is offering funding for local communities. Open schemes include Public Liability Insurance, Village Christmas Lights, Events, Community Festivals Fund, Policing & Community Safety Partnership, and Covid-19 Community Recovery Scheme where constituted groups are permitted to apply for 100% funding up to a maximum of £500 to encourage them to host a Warm Space for the local community. Deadlines vary.

Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust announce new programme

Major Capital Grants programme - the Trust has launched the latest programme under the Veterans' Capital Housing Fund. The Major Capital Grants programme will award grants of £75K to £500K+ for capital projects providing new or additional housing accommodation for Veterans.

The Henry Smith Charity: Strengthening Communities

The Strengthening Communities grant programme is designed to support small charitable organisations working at grassroots level so that funding reaches the most disadvantaged areas of the UK, targeting places that are economically marginalised and affected by poverty. They fund established organisations with a track record of delivering services directly to beneficiaries - organisations that are embedded within their communities and are addressing local needs with grants of £20k – £70k per year for 3 years. Organisation size is £20k – £500k per annum with focus of work in Northern within the 15% most deprived areas Grants available from £20k to £60k per year for 1-3 year projects. No deadlines.

Aviva Community Fund

Funding is available for fresh ideas looking to secure up to £50,000. Each charity can apply for funding of up to a maximum of £50,000 and Aviva employees will decide how the funding is distributed.  Eligible causes – Climate Action and Financial Wellbeing - will be able to submit their projects to the Aviva Community Fund through Crowdfunder. Funding applications are open to projects looking to raise up to £50,000. Apply at any time – they have removed deadlines.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council: Food Hardship Grant

The Department for Communities has made available hardship funding to local authorities to support the most vulnerable affected by the cost of living crisis. Council is working with partners in the Anti-Poverty Stakeholder Steering Group to support borough wide services to deal with the increased demand for support through a range of measures. Maximum grant amount is £3000. Closing date 31 March 2024.

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s £268k funding to assist local community groups and artists in 2024/25

Through their grants and bursaries they aim to invest in local community groups and ensure arts and culture remain a core activity within the Lisburn and Castlereagh area.  Those interested in applying for a grant scheme are invited to attend an information workshop. Please book in advance. Workshop dates and times are: Tuesday 28 November at 7pm in Bridge Community Centre, Lisburn, Thursday 30 November via zoom at 7pm, and Wednesday 6 December at 7pm in Moneyreagh Community Centre. Email [email protected]. Applications are online using the following links: Community Support Grant, Community Festivals Fund, Community Development Bursary Award, Arts grants and bursaries. Closing date for all schemes is 15 December 2023 (noon).

Cosaraf: Hardship Grants

Grants of up to £2,000 are available to charities, housing associations, schools, and social services providing support for individuals and families; in exceptional circumstances individual grants may exceed £500. Zakat funding is also available for eligible applicants.

Upcoming Deadlines

Baily Thomas Charitable Fund

Baily Thomas funds projects to aid research into learning disability and to aid the care and relief of those affected by learning disability by making grants to voluntary organisations working in this field. Grants range from £250 to high thousands. Application deadline for grants over £10,000 1 December 2023.

Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon (ABC) Borough Council

Council grant aid programmes offering financial support to eligible local organisations and groups. Programmes include: Community Development, Community Events, Arts Project Fund, International Tourism Event Fund, International Linkages Grant, and Large Events, Fund. Deadline for all 1 December 2023 (noon).

Community Foundation for NI: Tyrone Three Community Benefit Fund (Gortfinbar, Eshmore and Altamuskin)

Administered by the Community Foundation for NI, this local community fund has been set up by Energia Renewables, working in close partnership with local groups from the areas surrounding the Tyrone 3 Windfarms at Altamuskin, Eshmore and Gortfinbar.  Funding will be available to local community projects that are planned and run for the benefit of the local population and are within 7 miles of the centre of the three windfarms. Grants up to £5,000. Deadline 8 December 2023 (1pm).

Belfast City Council: Move more and Eat well

Earlier this year, the Active Belfast Partnership took forward their first Participatory Budgeting (PB) pilot exercise in Belfast. The theme for their first PB was: “Move more and eat well - to feel better”. They are continuing with this theme. Groups can apply for funding up to £2,500 to pay for things such as events, venue hire, transport for trips, workshops, tutors, performers, specialist facilitator, online activities, funding for awareness campaigns or for equipment for projects e.g., cooking equipment, sports kits, outdoor gym equipment and other innovative ideas or events. Deadline 18 December 2023 (noon).

As the voluntary and community sector face a squeeze on finances from a variety of sources, securing funding is essential but it’s a competitive environment. This in-person event gives a useful overview and the practical advice you need to complete funding applications with a focus on addressing emerging funding priorities.

These popular, free fundraising advice clinics provide members with an hour-long chance to discuss and address specific fundraising needs.  The sessions can be delivered online, in-person or over the telephone.
