Healthy Heart Grants open for Northern Ireland on 21 August

Heart Research UK’s Healthy Heart awards grants of up to £15,000 for new community projects aimed at supporting adults in Northern Ireland to reduce their risk of coronary heart disease. Accepting applications from small, registered charities and community interest companies with annual incomes of less than £1 million. Projects must work solely with adults and have a main focus on one or more of the following areas: healthy eating, physical activity, smoking or alcohol. Deadline 18 September 2024.

Motability Foundation publish October deadline for grant programmes

Their grants are designed to help disabled people access transport and make the journeys they choose through six grant programmes: Community Transport, Wheelchair Sector, Research, Active Travel, Travelling with Confidence, and Reducing Barriers to Driving. Charities and organisations can apply for grants from £50,000 up to £4 million. They are asking organisations interested in applying for funding through these programmes, to submit their Stage One application by 8 October 2024.

Live Here Love Here: Small Grants Scheme opens 27 August

The Live Here Love Here Small Grants Scheme, which launches 27 August 2024, is aimed at promoting civic pride within communities and improving the environmental quality of shared community spaces. The Small Grants Scheme is a partnership between local Councils, Northern Ireland Housing Executive, and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful. Grants are available from £500 to £5,000 to volunteer and community groups, youth groups, sports clubs, churches, all schools and third-level education organisations, and not-for-profits. Non-constituted groups can request a maximum grant of £1,500.

Peter Sell Annual Award for Scout and Guide Groups

This is an annual award of up to £5,000 to a Scout or Guide group given by the Leslie Sell Charitable Trust. The Trustees invite applications which seek to do the following: Widen engagement and involvement in Scouting and Guiding – in particular, the Trustees welcome applications that will encourage people to engage with scouting or guiding who have not previously done so. That will have a legacy beyond the initial expenditure of the grant – e.g. through the purchase of equipment that can be used in later years or by encouraging engagement of people, some of whom may then remain involved in the long term. Next deadline 14 September 2024.

Paul Hamlyn Foundation open funding programmes

Their funds focus on arts, education and learning, migration and young people. Currently six programmes are open including: Youth Fund - Up to £150,000 over 3 years; rolling deadline, Migration Fund - Up to £60,000 per year (3 to 4 years); up to £50,000 per year (5 years) over 3 to 5 years; Rolling deadline, Ideas and Pioneers Fund - £20,000 for up to 18 months; Deadline: 16 September 2024, Arts-based Learning Fund - £30,000 to £300,000; up to £100,000 per year over 1 to 4 years; Rolling deadline, and Arts Fund - £90,000 to £300,000 over 3 years; Open from Monday 4 November 2024 to Friday 31 January 2025.

Edge Fund Annual programme for UK and Republic of Ireland Organisations

The Edge Fund is offering 40 grants of £1,000 each to communities and campaign groups based in the UK and Republic of Ireland that are working for social, economic and environmental justice. They support efforts organisations make towards these areas to end imbalances in wealth and power – and give those they aim to help, a say in where the money goes. Deadline 13 September 2024.

Arts Council NI: Rural Engagement Arts Programme

A wide range of organisation types can apply for grants between £500 to £10,000 for projects lasting a year under the Rural Engagement Arts Programme (REAP). The primary theme of REAP is combatting isolation and loneliness and promoting social inclusion. Deadline 21 August 2024 (noon).

ESB: Hunters Hill Wind Farm Community Fund

Managed by Omagh Forum, Hunters Hill Wind Farm Community Fund seeks to address current and emerging issues, needs and opportunities within communities, enriching lives and creating brighter possibilities for local residents. Typically, the award value is between £500 and £5000. Applicants must be within a 7.5km radius of Hunters Hill Wind Farm, Fintona, County Tyrone. Deadline 23 August 2024 (noon).

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council: 'Sports Club Accelerator’ Fund

The ‘Sports Club Accelerator’ Fund provides much needed financial support to local sports clubs. Up to £3,000 is available exclusively for sports organisations to help meet the costs associated with their development. The fund is aimed at sports clubs located within the Lisburn and Castlereagh area who are affiliated to both a national governing body as well as their local sports advisory body, Sport Lisburn & Castlereagh. Deadline 23 August 2024.

Royal Society of Chemistry: Outreach Fund

Provides financial support to members, individuals and organisations to enable them to run chemistry-based engagement activities that connect communities from all ages and backgrounds with the chemical sciences. Submit applications by 23:59 on 9 September or 11 November 2024.

Prudence Trust: Supporting Children and Young People with Disordered Eating

The Prudence Trust offers grants of between £30,000 and £100,000 per year for up to three years for charities and community interest companies across the UK that deliver evidence-based, specialist eating disorder services for children and young people aged between 11 and 25, and their families. UK registered charities or CICs with an annual income of £250,000 or over who can demonstrate a track record over three years in delivering high quality eating disorder services can apply. Deadline for First stage applications is 2 September (2pm); Second stage applications: Invitations will be made in mid-September.
