Irish Youth Foundation annual award now open

The Irish Youth Foundation (UK) is inviting community and voluntary groups in Northern Ireland working with children and young people who are marginalised or at risk to apply for grants of up to £10,000 (typical award in the region of £5,000). Projects should have a non-formal educational purpose and contribute to good relations in Northern Ireland. Grants can be used to extend an existing activity, to employ additional staff, to purchase equipment, to undertake an evaluation, to publish a report, to improve organisational capacity or to try something new and different. Email application form by 8 July 2024.

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council: Community Bursary Scheme 2024/25

Community Bursary Scheme is a fund designed to support individuals who live in the Council area and/or are members of formally governed community and voluntary organisations. It is to help them access routes to community development/education, sports, music, language and/or culture opportunities. The Community Bursary Scheme has £25,000 available. Applicants can apply for financial assistance of up to 50% of the total cost of an activity or a maximum of £1,000, whichever is the lesser.

Money Saving Expert Charity changes to funding approach

Following a strategic review - the Trustees are pleased to announce that the MSE Charity will be re-opening for outline applications on 19 June 2024. More details to follow, but in summary it will consist of a pre-application eligibility quiz, an outline proposal, and then by invitation a more detailed application. From June 2024, the funding approach is changing from two themed grant rounds per year to two grant rounds per year with no specific themes. Instead of a specific theme, all applications must be aligned with MSE Charity's vision of funding activities which make a lasting impact on the way people think, behave and manage their money. Project grants of up to £10,000 will be available (this is an increase of £2,000 from previous rounds).

St Stephen’s Green Trust programmes opening

St. Stephen's Green Trust (SSGT) is an independent social justice grant-maker which works across the island of Ireland. Family Matters Grant Programme for grants of up to £6,000 or up to £21,500 opens July 2024 and closes early Sept 2024. Traveller Accommodation Grant Programme opens August 2024 and closes mid Sept 2024. In 2023, grants were on average €5,000 for small pieces of research, learning and activism to €15,000 to €20,000 for work having a greater impact. Multiannual grants were also available. Joseph Rowntree Trust funding updates

The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (JRCT) is a Quaker trust which seeks to transform the world by supporting people who address the root causes of conflict and injustice. They offer funding through five programmes Peace and Security (now closed for 2024), Power and Accountability (anticipated next round autumn 2024), Rights and Justice (closed to new applications in 2024), Sustainable Future (anticipated next round autumn 2024), and Northern Ireland (expected re-opening September 2024 – available update on status July 2024).

Asda Foundation: Investing in Spaces and Places Grant opens July 2024

Investing in Spaces and Places is Asda Foundation’s higher value grant for local groups aimed at improving spaces in the heart of local communities. Asda Foundation will be investing over £1,000,000 for this grant to enable grassroots community groups to transform spaces at the heart of their local community. Grants will be between £10,000 and £25,000 and the application window opens on 9 July 2024.

PRSF: Beyond Borders

Beyond Borders is a co-commissioning and touring programme run in partnership with Creative Scotland, Arts Council of Wales, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Arts Council of Ireland / An Chomhairle Ealaíon. Beyond Borders, is open to applications from organisations, music groups and composers. Funding of up to £15,000 is available for projects that include repeat performances of music written in the past five years, new commissions and recordings. Deadline 29 July 2024 (6pm).

Music for All: The Power of Music Fund

Music for All is offering small grants to local organisations using music making to support people living with dementia and their carers. Grants of up to £2000. Deadline 17 June 2024 (8am).

The Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund: Veterans' Capital Housing Fund

Under the Refurbishment Grants Programme they will award grants of up to £75,000 for projects that will refurbish or extend existing accommodation for veterans. This could be transitional or permanent housing. Permanent housing can only include properties that are available to veterans under a social rent or are part of a wider facility that provides a rented home to a veteran with the tailored support that meets their needs (this can include care homes). Deadline 19 June 2024 (noon).

The Big Give: Women and Girls Match Fund

Through their Women and Girls Match Fund, they’re supporting charities serving the women and girls in our communities, fostering a future where every individual can thrive without limitations. Utilising their 1:1 matched funding model, when the public donates to a charity through a Big Give campaign, they ask funders (philanthropists, foundations or corporates) to match that donation. So, £50 from a member of the public, becomes £100 for a good cause. Open to UK-registered charities with a minimum income of at least £25,000 as per last filed accounts with Charity commission. Deadline 22 June 2024.

Beautiful Trouble: Get Up Rise Up Direct Action Fund

The purpose of the Get Up, Rise Up direct action fund is to support activists globally to shift power through strategic nonviolent direct actions to create a more socially and ecologically just, healthy, and equitable world for all. For the upcoming round, they will accept all applications to the GURU fund, but will prioritize actions advancing two focus areas: Ending violence & apartheid in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel; Ceasefire Now! And Addressing Fossil Fuel Industry + Infrastructure. Applications assessed each month – submit by 5th of each month. Grants will be awarded up to $1000. Next deadline 5 July 2024.

Co-Op Local Community Fund

The Local Community Fund supports projects in Co-op members’ communities that help to create Sustainable Future for People and the Planet (the themes for this year). There is a total of £5 million for Co-op communities across the UK with £6,000 to share between three local causes in each community. Deadline 7 July 2024 (midnight).
