Funding News
The James Tudor Foundation support UK-registered charities with a health focus through four funding programmes. NI based organisations can apply under Physical Health – Therapeutic interventions, direct healthcare, and condition-specific support and Mental Health – Evidence-based, trauma-informed support for children, young people, and parents affected by Adverse Childhood Experiences. Funding is designed to contribute towards your overall service delivery, but you are also welcome to apply for a specific project. Grants of up to £25,000 are available, usually awarded for one year, but occasionally funding for up to three years is considered. Expressions of Interest for their March 2026 grant round will open in October (the full timeline will be available by the end of September).
The Trustees of the Randal Foundation are inviting UK registered organisations who are delivering projects in the UK, to express interest. They invite enquiries for grant aid for projects, which are directly saving lives today, and significantly improving lives too, achieving this by working in the following areas. 1) Healthcare and nutrition for the most vulnerable, 2) Alleviating poverty, 3) Tackling mental ill-health, 4) Women and children at risk of violence or exploitation, 5) Prisoner rehabilitation, and 6) Education of the most disadvantaged. The Trustees are considering making grants of between £5,000 to £30,000 to successful organisations to fund project work. Deadline – their enquiry process will remain open until Trustees determine sufficient enquiries have been received. The enquiry window may be closed at any time and without further notice.
The Sasha Foundation was set up to support charities that work with mental health issues in memory of Sasha Love. Established charitable organisations with priority given to grassroots community groups working with young people suffering from depression and mental health issues or who are confronting drug abuse issues can apply for grants up to £10,000 Education and healthcare programs in developing nations is also funded. Funding can be used for running costs (including salaries), projects, equipment, or capital developments for new, continuing, or one-off initiatives. Two deadlines annually – 1 April and 1 October.
Benefact Trust: Community Impact Grants
Benefact Trust’s Community Impact Grants empower Christian charities and churches across the UK and Ireland to create transformative community projects. From tackling homelessness, addressing local poverty or mental health, unlocking the wider use of church buildings to enriching school and worship spaces, eligible applicants can apply for both capital and revenue costs for new or expanded work. Applicants detail total project costs and other funding secured (must have 30% of their project costs secured upfront). Applications are open year-round, with typical decision times of 2 months for small grants, and 4–6 months for larger requests.
Community Foundation NI: The Equity in Action Fund
Community Foundation for Northern Ireland's Equity in Action Fund offers grants of between £3,000 and £5,000 for not-for-profit organisations in Northern Ireland to deliver projects actively addressing hate crime and misinformation. The Equity in Action Fund will support small-scale, innovative, and community-based initiatives that actively address and counter: Hate crimes and hate incidents, The spread of misinformation and disinformation (particularly online), and The intersection of both, including how false narratives contribute to prejudice and violence. This is an ongoing programme – no deadline.
Belfast City Council: Community Support Plan Large Grant Programme
The Large Grant programme is a new element in their Community Support Plan. The grants will provide funding to support the development of vibrant, inclusive communities where everyone has opportunities for involvement and development. Eligible groups in Belfast can apply for grants to run projects and programmes that will take place between April 2026 and March 2029. Maximum grant is £60,000. Applications close on Monday 6 October 2025 at 12 noon. They are holding in-person and online information sessions – click link for more details.
Upcoming Deadlines
The Scottish Connections Fund offers funding to set up new projects to promote Scotland’s reputation and interests. It is open to individuals and organisations who consider themselves to have a Scottish connection. You can apply for a grant between £2,000 and £5,000. The total available budget for the fund in the 2025 to 2026 financial year is £75,000. Projects must be completed by the end of March 2026. Deadline 09 September 2025, 5pm.
The Connect Fund awards funding to strengthen civic East-West collaboration on matters of shared interest, including mutual challenges and opportunities across a range of sectors that directly affect communities in Northern Ireland. Funding can be provided for both standalone/one off projects (e.g. attending a conference or facilitating a visit) or for a more recurrent project (e.g. establishing a UK-wide forum for community organisations). There will be two funding rounds; applicants can bid for £300 to £50,000. Applications accepted on a rolling basis but must be submitted by the 10th of the month for a decision at the beginning of the following month. Next deadline 10 September 2025.
Cash for Kids Sports and Community Challenges
Sports Challenge - Grassroots sports groups across Northern Ireland making a real impact and breaking down barriers to sport for children and young people facing disadvantage or disability can apply to be shortlisted to raise their own funds and receive additional match funding. All shortlisted groups get 100% of the funds they raise plus either, 1st place £5000, 2nd £2500, 3rd place £1,500 or for all others £500. The Community Challenge is open to grassroots organisations, charities and community groups which support disadvantaged children in Northern Ireland. All shortlisted groups get 100% of the funds they raise plus either, 1st place £5000, 2nd £3000, and 3rd place £2000. Deadline for both schemes is 15 September 2025, 12pm(noon).
The Zurich Municipal Diversity and Inclusion awards 2025
Zurich Municipal has announced it is to run its diversity and inclusion award scheme for small charities for a second year. The funding backs initiatives carried out by small charities to promote diversity and inclusion in their areas. Small charities with annual incomes up to £100,000 can apply. A total of £18,000 is being made available, with £10,000 to the winning charity, with second and third place prizes of £5,000 and £3,000. Deadline 23:59 on 30 September 2025.
