Cosaraf: Hardship Grants

Grants of up to £2,000 are available for eligible individuals and families, but only in exceptional circumstances will individual grants exceed £500. Applications will only be accepted from recognised social organisations such as charities, housing associations, schools and social services acting on behalf of a family or individual in need.

The Which? Fund reopens for 2023/24

The Which? Fund offers grants to UK charities, UK universities, and not for profit CICs to support research projects aiming to improve understanding of the specific consumer harms experienced by diverse and disadvantaged communities, develop evidence-based solutions to tackle these harms, and encourage collaborative working to provide a more powerful voice for all UK consumers. There is a total of £75,000 of funding available in 2023/24. This is the first of two funding calls.

The Fore Autumn 2023 registration opens for 1 week in July

The Fore awards investment in organisations make unrestricted grants to any registered charity, CIC, CIO or Community Benefit Society with turnover of under £500,000 in the last financial year. Organisations will have one week to register their interest to this popular fund from noon 12 July to noon 19 July 2023.

NEW: Hubbub and Starbucks: Eat it Up Fund

The Eat it Up Fund is a new £200,000 fund provided by Starbucks (with the money coming from Starbucks 5p cup charge) in partnership with Hubbub Foundation UK, an environmental charity. They offer grants of up to £40,000 aimed at finding and supporting creative approaches to reducing food waste. Ideas can be ready to test, or already tested concepts wanting to progress further. Applications will be accepted from any organisation that can prove they are an officially constituted body, registered in the UK including schools, local authorities, and purpose-led micro/small businesses. Expression of interest deadline 21 July 2023 (5pm).

Skinners’ Charity Foundation

Launching the Skinners Charity Foundation in 2022, this new foundation continues their philanthropic work to support Young People’s Vocational Development targeting NEET young to help them enter the workplace, Arts, Heritage and Communities providing capital grants for Arts and Heritage projects (UK wide with grants of up to £1,000 are available for capital items., and The Relief of Poverty and Hardship open to organisations located in specific south east England regions only.

Special EU Programmes Body: PEACE PLUS 2021-27 opens 2 more calls

PEACEPLUS funding supports 6 themes aimed at investing in efforts to address long standing social and economic challenges throughout the region. Nine calls are currently open including Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing. Deadlines vary.

Upcoming Deadlines

Fibrus Play it Forward Fund

Established in Spring 2023, the fund exists to support non-profit voluntary and community groups, organisations, and charities in Northern Ireland and Cumbria to support children’s sports projects or initiatives. Fibrus is pledging £30,000 in 2023 to the Fibrus Play it Forward Fund; organisations can apply for up to £1000 of funding. Round 1 closes 27 June 2023. Round 2 opens in October (dates may change).

Belfast City Council: Artist Studios and Maker Spaces Organisational Grants 2023/24

The Artist Studios and Maker Spaces Organisational Grants, part of their ongoing A City Imagining cultural investment programme, is open to organisations or groups operating artist studios and maker spaces who can apply for up to £15,000 to use towards specified developmental needs within a 12 month period. Exceptional cases can be made for the award of grants up to £25,000. Deadline for applications is 12 noon on Tuesday 27 June.

British Academy: SHAPE Involve and Engage

This pilot funding scheme awards up to £8,000 to support humanities and social sciences researchers from across the UK to deliver innovative public engagement projects working in partnership with a gallery, archive, library, or museum (GLAM organisation). Deadline 28 June 2023 (5pm). 

Community Foundation for Northern Ireland

  • Social Justice Small Grants Programme, supported by the Northern Ireland Human Rights Fund (NIHRF), works to advance a fairer and more equal society where the human rights of all are protected. Grants will be available up to £5,000. The panel may consider awards up to £15,000. Deadline 28 June 2023 (1pm).
  • The Pressure Group Fund supports projects trying to address social injustice, for example through civic action and working with groups and individuals to get their voices heard by decision-makers. Grants size is £1000, with potential for a further £1000. Deadline 30 June 2023 (1pm). 

BUPA Foundation: Green Community Grants

These Grants support practical projects helping people and planet health with awards of between £250 and £2,500. The scheme is open to all to schools, registered charities, not-for-profit organisations, local authorities and social housing providers across the UK. Priority will be given to the regeneration of green spaces for community use, however other examples can include tree planting to improve air quality, schools creating an outdoor classroom, community allotments, installing sustainable equipment, such as a heat pump, etc. List is not exhaustive. Deadline 30 June 2023 (noon).

NEW - Free Online Introductory Fundraising Workshops for NICVA Members

Throughout Autumn 2023, we will host a series of FREE workshops for NICVA members introducing a different fundraising topic or aspect of fundraising.

These sessions are an opportunity to find out about an area of fundraising that's new to you, top up your existing knowledge, or be a snapshot into an element of fundraising you'd like to explore. Each workshop is led by NICVA’s Fundraising Advice Officer.
