Weston Communicating Climate Programme

Communicating Climate is a six-month strategic communications training programme specifically designed for organisations working on climate and environmental issues and related areas. This programme aims to give you, the experts in your field, the skills and knowledge to engage your audience and influence meaningful change.   This year’s Communicating Climate programme will prioritise organisations campaigning for change, tackling environmental justice, and supporting marginalised groups in their work. They are looking for 20 organisations to take part in this free six-month programme, which kicks off in April 2024. Applications close 11 March 2024 (9am).

The Pink Ribbon Foundation Grants

The Pink Ribbon Foundation provides grants of up to £6000 for practical projects and initiatives, which aim to help registered charities to deliver good physical and mental health to individuals with and recovering from breast cancer.  They expect projects that receive funding to be delivered within 12 to 18 months. o be considered for a grant in 2024, please submit your grant application to the Foundation by Friday 31st May 2024. Grants are awarded annually in late July. 

Woodward Charitable Trust: Summer Playschemes

The Woodward Charitable Trust is a grant-making trust and is one of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts. Each year the trustees of the Woodward Charitable Trust set aside funds for summer playschemes for children between the ages of 5-16 years. Most grants awarded are in the range of £500 to £1,000. Around 35 grants are made each year.  Opens to applications 26 February 2024.

The Henry Smith Charity - Holiday Grants for Children

The purpose of the Holiday Grants programme is to provide access to recreational trips or holidays for groups of children who experience disadvantage or who have disabilities. Grants range from £500 to £2,750. This fund is currently closed to applications. Applications for the next period are due to open on 13 March 2024.​

KFC Foundation: Community Grants Programme

The KFC Foundation provides grants to organisations focused on empowering young people in the UK aged 11-25 years to fulfil their potential and build a positive future by providing spaces that allow young people to feel safe and secure, by providing mentoring and helping to unlock talent and build life skills to improve their chances to gain meaningful employment. Grants of up to £2,500 to support grassroots organisations in the heart of their restaurant’s communities. Deadline 17 March 2024 (23:59).

Arts & Business NI: Investment Programme

Investment Programme helps organisations ignite long-term partnerships, reach new audiences, connect with communities, support business solutions, and deliver world-class arts and culture. The Arts & Business NI Investment Programme is a competitive match-fund up to £15,000, which supports partnerships between arts organisations and commercial businesses in Northern Ireland. With 5 rounds each year, the deadline is 31 March 2024 (midnight).

Upcoming Deadlines

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council: Financial Assistance 2024-2025 – Call 1

The council provides grants to the following programme areas: Community Engagement, Community Events & Festivals (Projects running between 01 April 2024 - 30 September 2024), Good Relations, Irish Language, Minority Communities Fund, PCSP Community Safety Support, Sports Programmes, Arts and Culture Projects, Tourism Events, and Community Summer Schemes. Deadline 28 February 2024 (noon).

The Naturesave Trust

The Naturesave Trust supports environmental projects across the UK. As a small charity the Trust focuses on small projects for charities, social enterprises and grassroots community organisations whose activities are based within the UK. The January – February funding window is now open and the theme is Sustainable Food. Deadline 29 February 2024.

Laughology: THE HAPPINESS FUND

Funding grassroots, neighbourhood-based community projects throughout the UK. The Happiness Fund is available to enable and support projects which improve mental health and wellbeing, inclusion, learning and skills development in local communities. The fund will award £5,000 twice a year - allowing up to two different projects/ charities or CIC’s per year to apply. Deadline 29 February 2024.

The National Lottery Community Fund Climate Action Fund - Energy & Climate

Energy and Climate closes to new applications on 1 March 2024 at midday. They’ve already received a lot of applications and spent a lot of their budget. So to have a chance of success any applications they get now must fit very closely with what they’re hoping to fund. From 27 March you can also apply for new funding from the Climate Action Fund. It will be about inspiring more people to take climate action.

Help the Homeless

Help The Homeless' main funding remit is the regular allocation of grants (generally up to £5,000) for capital costs to small and medium-sized registered charities only (those with a turnover of under £1m per annum).  All applications must relate to projects that assist individuals in their return to mainstream society, rather than simply offer shelter or other forms of sustenance. Next deadline 15 March 2024 (5pm).

With 23 funders, support organisations, speakers, advice drop ins, and ones to ones, this event, generously supported by the Halifax Foundation of Northern Ireland, aims to help local organisations secure the vital funds and support they need to thrive.

Please note: Strike action by the GMB, Siptu and Unite unions is due to take place on February 1st, 15th, 27th and 28th. This event will still go ahead, so please plan your journey taking into account planned strike action. 

Free places available for CIOF-NI event

Join the Chartered Institute of Fundraising NI’s upcoming event for free. This time the forum focuses on investing in corporate partnerships and contactless donations in practice with guest speakers.
