Benefact Group: Movement for Good – Special Draw 1 now open

Help them give over £1 million in 2024. The Benefact Group gives all available profits to charity and good causes. Movement for Good is their annual programme of giving that anyone can get involved in, and again this year they’ll be donating over £1 million to charities and good causes nominated by the public. As well as their regular £1,000 draws open to all, they host £5,000 Special Draws that support one charity sector each five times a year. Their first special draw of 2024 starts on the 19th of February and will be dedicated to charities, not-for-profit organisations, and community groups whose primary focus is animals. You can nominate between 19-23 February 2024.

CRC Small Grants Scheme

funding is intended to help community/voluntary groups throughout Northern Ireland develop their capacity to engage in community relations work and to enhance the community relations potential of projects they undertake.  Funding of up to £10,000 is available but it is more typical for £2,000- £3,000 for first application. Deadline 01 March February 2024 (4pm).

Wooden Spoon

Wooden Spoon is the UK's leading grant-making charity dedicated to helping disadvantaged and disabled children and young people through rugby.  The project must enhance and support the lives of children and young people with a cognitive age under 25 that are disadvantaged physically, mentally, or socially. Funding can contribute to physical, tangible assets or educational, health and wellbeing, and disability sports. There is neither a minimum nor a maximum grant level, however, preference is for projects over £5,000. Open to schools, charities, and sports clubs.

Veterans' Foundation Grants

The Veterans’ Foundation has established a substantial grants’ programme to support charities and organisations that provide support to those in need among serving armed forces personnel, veterans, operationally qualified seafarers and their immediate families.  Grants of up to a maximum of £30,000 are available. This can be for one year or a multi-year grant for up to three years (e.g., £10,000 per year over three years). Grants of up to a maximum of £75,000 are available for the exclusive use of salary costs over a three-year period, with the maximum annual grant being £25,000 (e.g., £25,000 per year over three years). Next deadline 23 April 2024.

Anchor Foundation

Supporting Christian charities concerned with social inclusion, particularly through ministries of healing and the arts. The maximum grant provided is £12,000. Applications are considered at twice yearly trustees’ meetings in April and October and need to be received by 31st January and 31st July each year.

JAC Trust: Climate Change and Displaced People Programme

The JAC Trust is an independent grant-making Trust focusing on climate change and displaced people. The Trust supports forcibly displaced people and their host communities to respond to the impact of climate change. Multi-year grants of up to £75,000 in total are available. Funds should be used within 36 months. Charities and social enterprises with an annual income of less than £10 million can apply. Expression of Interest deadline 26 February 2024 (9am).

Hays Travel Foundation

The focus of the Hays Travel Foundation is on helping young people (up to 25 years of age) in the areas where Hays Travel operates, in at least one of the following areas:Education, Prevention of poverty, Health, Arts, Culture, and Sports. While applications solely for salary costs are unlikely to be funded, the Foundation will review salaries as part of a broader application. Deadline 14 February 2024.

APEX: Community Spirit Grants open

Applications for Apex’s Community Spirit Grants (formerly CIF Grants) are now being accepted from individual tenants, community groups and non-profit organisations. Individual Apex tenants can apply for up to £250 to deliver a programme that will bring their community together or address an issue that has been highlighted by tenants. Community groups and non-profit organisations can apply for grants of up to £500 towards providing assistance and support to communities in which Apex tenants live. Deadline 17 February 2024.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council: PEACEPLUS PROGRAMME Community Advantage Programme

The Community Advantage Programme aims to create investment in local capital projects (projects to construct either new facilities or improvements to existing facilities) across the Borough. It is anticipated that the Programme will support a minimum of 2 and maximum of 5 projects. The request for funding within an application should be a minimum of £200,000 and up to a maximum of £400,000. Expression of Interest deadline 16 February 2024 (noon). The Acorn Giving Circle

Up to £1,000 is available for constituted community and voluntary groups and individuals (latter should contact them to discuss). The fund wishes to support projects that will improve the lives of children, young people and older people through social, cultural, sporting or educational activities who live in Derry~Londonderry city and its environs, including Strabane Town. Deadline 16 February 2024 (1pm).

Better Community Business Network (BCBN) Grant Initiative

BCBN’s Grant Initiative aims to provide small third-sector grant awards to empower charities and local community projects. This initiative will distribute a one-off grant award of up to £3,000 per charity or to small but credible community projects, which are able to demonstrate their positive impact on the communities they aim to serve. Deadline 18 February 2024.

With 23 funders, support organisations, speakers, advice drop ins, and ones to ones, this event, generously supported by the Halifax Foundation of Northern Ireland, aims to help local organisations secure the vital funds and support they need to thrive.

Strike action by the GMB, Siptu and Unite unions is due to take place on February 1st, 15th, 27th and 28th. This event will still go ahead, so please plan your journey taking into account planned strike action.
