This Week's New & Updated COVID-19 Funds
Department for Communities: Sign Language COVID-19 Support Fund (Closing 5pm, 1st December)
£430,000 of funding is available to support the survival, maintenance and sustainability of the sign language sector impacted by COVID-19 through the support of community based activities and the development of new avenues for participation and engagement through the pandemic.
The Ulster-Scots Covid-19 Resilience Fund (Closing Date for Language and Large Grant Applications 2nd December)
Funded by DfC and administered by the Ulster-Scots Agency, the fund will provide small grants (up to £3k) to help groups with overhead costs and Covid-19 safety; language grants for innovative projects promoting the Ulster-Scots language (up to £10k); and large organisation grants (up to £30k) to help larger groups replace income lost due to the pandemic. Most of the fund (£660k) will be allocated for small grants, which will be assessed on a first come, first served basis.
Department for Communities (Via Conradh na Gaeilge): SPG+ Relief & Relaunch Fund 2020-2021 (Covid19) (Closing Date 2nd December)
This £460,000 fund is aimed at Irish language community groups dealing with ongoing challenges and difficulties brought about as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, especially concerning financial implications of Covid-19 and staffing and programme income losses, since the beginning of April 2020. Department for Communities (Via Conradh na Gaeilge): Community Events Fund: Towards Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia 2021 (Closing Date 2nd December)
This fund is a stimulus fund to create increased, renewed and new opportunities for communities to use the Irish language in 2021. Full details in Irish here.
Department for Communities (Via Ciste Infheistíochta na Gaeilge): Programme to support Irish language community facilities (Closing 2nd December)
Ciste Infheistíochta na Gaeilge are delivering a £610,000 programme of support, aimed at helping organisations who are managing community capital facilities in the Irish language community sector. Full details in Irish here
The Sylvia Waddilove Foundation UK: COVID–19 Emergency Fund (Ends when funds are exhausted)
The Foundation has set up an emergency fund to help small to medium sized organisations who are struggling to manage the financial impact of COVID-19 either because of increased demand for their services or loss of income. The fund is targeted at organisations in a critical position. Grants are for a maximum of £1,000.
Peter Sowerby Foundation: Increasing Access Fund (Closing 5pm, 16th November)
The new Increasing Access Fund is targeted to support organisations to develop new services that respond to the Covid-19 situation, or to adapt existing services to meet local and national needs. 3 different funding strands offer grants are up to £10,000, up to £25,000 or up to £100,000.
British Council: New Conversations (Closing 23.59 GNT, 27th November)
New Conversations is a programme funded and delivered by the British Council, Farnham Maltings , the High Commission of Canada in the UK Due to COVID-19 restrictions, New Conversations is now offering funding of up to $6,000 CAD / £3,500 GBP for artistic individual or organisational partnerships to explore how to develop new creative ideas, exchange knowledge and practice without meeting in person.
Comic Relief: The Global Majority (Application Deadline, Midday, 30th November)
Comic Relief is partnering with the National Emergencies Trust Barclays and The Clothworkers' Foundation to launch The Global Majority Fund, dedicated to further Covid-19 response work with communities experiencing racial inequality. They are seeking organisations willing to act as intermediary technical partners, who have the ability, expertise, networks and knowledge to distribute rapid funding to a diverse range of locally-led and focused organisations across the UK.
They have approximately £2.1 million available to make and manage grants. They envision making between 10-15 investments between the value of £150,000 - £250,000. Funding is available for up to 18 months.
