Culture Programme Guide Available
A guide is now available to download on the European Culture Programme which helpfully explains the activities that can be funded by this lesser known European Union Programme.
The European Commission encourages cooperation between cultural operators within Europe through both its policies and programmes. A total amount of 400 million euros is available for the Culture Programme over the period 2007-2013.
The general aim of the Programme is to enhance this cultural area shared by Europe’s citizens through the development of cross-border cultural cooperation between creators, cultural players and cultural institutions of the countries taking part in the Programme, with a view to encouraging the emergence of European citizenship. This aim is reflected in the Programme’s three specific objectives:
- promoting the transnational mobility of people working in the cultural sector
- encouraging the transnational circulation of works and cultural and artistic products
- encouraging intercultural dialogue in Europe.
The guide is available from: http://ec.europa.eu/culture/index_en.htm
or directly from: http://ec.europa.eu/culture/key-documents/doc/brochure_culture_2009_en.pdf
Two of the next deadlines for the programme are:
- 3 February 2010: Literary Translation
- 1 May 2010: Cooperation with 3rd Countries
