BURA Waterways Renaissance Awards 2009

BURA the British Urban Regeneration Association and the Waterways Trust have announced the Waterways Renaissance Awards 2009 which celebrate best practice in delivery of sustainable waterway focused regeneration.

The UK's inland waterway network is undergoing a remarkable renaissance. Waterways are increasingly being recognised for the value they add to developments undertaken in their vicinity. 

Ten award categories ensure that all aspects of the work being undertaken on waterways receive appropriate consideration and increase your chance of earning a stamp of approval from our expert panel. The categories for 2009 are:

  • Area Based Regeneration
  • Community
  • Design & Construction
  • Education & Learning
  • Historic Environment
  • Innovation
  • Natural Environment
  • Partnership
  • Recreation & Tourism
  • Strategy & Masterplanning

These projects can be from small-scale community-inspired  environmental initiatives to multi million pound area-based regeneration, to receive fair and unbiased consideration.

General criteria

All projects/schemes being nominated must be able to demonstrate that they:

  • are located on, or immediately adjacent to, an inland waterway in the UK
  • have involved active participation by an appropriate range of partners
  • have enhanced the use and enjoyment of the waterway
  • have a proven track record of success

The Awards are free to enter and anyone from the private, public or voluntary sectors can submit an entry.
