Belfast CC Parks events grants scheme
Belfast City Council want to encourage more people to get involved in parks throughout Belfast. The aim of the Parks Events Small Grants Scheme is to encourage communities and organisations to stage their own events in parks.
The objectives are:
- to deliver our vision of a 'Better Belfast' by improving quality of life, now and for future generations, and meet the needs of local people
by delivering quality, customer-focused services - to provide locally-based park events with extensive community involvement and opportunities to promote good relations
- to encourage a sense of ownership of parks by local communities
- to increase the number of events held in our parks and increase park use.
Grants of up to £2,000 are available for non-party political Belfast-based organisations, such as community, youth and church groups, hoping to organise an event in one of the council's parks in summer 2008.
Organisations applying for grant aid must be able to show that they can meet the Council's standards and gain public support for their event. It is expected every group that receives funding to stage a high standard of event. When applying for funding, you must be able to demonstrate how your organisation will gain support from your local community.
All applicants must provide:
- a completed and signed application form
- evidence of a well-run community-based group/organisation/church group, including bank account details
- evidence of a group constitution or set of rules and its legal status, for example, a limited company or registered charity
- a Child Protection Policy
- a signed certificate of compliance to show that your group is non-party political (this is provided with the application form)
- a full breakdown of how successful funding will be spent
- details of how your proposed event will be supervised and organised
- proof of public liability insurance up to £5 million
- a completed risk assessment form (this is provided with the application form).
It is strongly recommend that completed applications are hand delivered before the closing date of 12pm on Monday 28 January 2008.
